Delilah Heads Home to Illinois

The Spitz family traveled from Evanston, Illinois,
to adopt Delilah, a young Bouvier des Flandres. Longtime Bouvier
lovers, they had been looking for a new family member for
several years. Mom Deboreh said as soon as they saw her online
and read her "sweetie pie" description they knew their search
was over. The Spitzes: Tamar, Deboreh, Delilah, and Noah.

5 Babies:
Precious as Pearls
If you had a perfect pearl, would you just throw
it away? That's what happened to one newborn kitten and her
4 brothers and sisters. Someone thought they weren't worth
much. To us, though, each one was precious---like a gem.

Pearl and her 4 siblings, Persephone, Pinocchio,
Picasso, and Pretzel, were discovered by a kind Samaritan
who brought them to the shelter in early August. Read
the rest of Pearl's story and see how you can help.

Flurry of Felines Continues
As fall creeps up on us, we still continue
to experience a flurry of felines.
No Real Reason
Visitors asked why? Why so many homeless cats right now? We
will never have a definitive answer, but there are trends.
- Families are losing their homes and leaving their pet
cats behind to fend for themselves.
- Pet parents are still not spaying and neutering.
Cat Facts
- An unspayed cat can produce 3 litters per year
- An average litter is 4 to 6 kittens
How You Can Make a Difference
- Microchip your cat
- Microchip vouchers may be purchased for $15 at the
shelter and redeemed during September at Dearborn
Veterinary Hospital
- Have your cat spayed or neutered
- Give generously to your local animal rescue
