Meet Your New BFF (Best Friend Forever) HERE!

Cat Placement Program for Seniors
(program in effect as of 8/1/07*)

Seniors, 50 years of age and older, that meet the Friends adoption placement criteria for a cat adoption, have the opportunity to have the normal adoption fee discounted by 50% if they choose to adopt a cat one (1) year or older during the current promotion period of the Cat Placement Program for Seniors.

This program is offered to increase adoptions of adult cats when the shelter is experiencing high populations of cats.  It also is intended to encourage the senior community to enjoy the health and emotional benefits of a pet companion.

Critical elements of the Program:

1.       Partnerships with one (or more) of the pet supply stores to supply starter kits (litter pan, litter, scoop, food/water dish).  These kits will be offered to the new adopters for a nominal donation.

2.       The Friends will provide at no charge with each adoption:  food samples, a transport box, kitty blanket, and cat training CD.

3.       Partnerships with local pet sitters to assist seniors with caring for their new pet.  A list of participating pet sitters will be provided.

4.       Assurances to all senior adopters that if there comes a point in time where they can no longer care for their adopted cat, the shelter will take the cat back.

See the adoptable cats and kittens and learn about the adoption process.

All adoption applications are carefully screened to ensure a loving forever home.  All adopted cats are sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated (CVR-C and rabies), tested for feline leukemia, and have had a fecal test and worming.    *Note:  Normal adoption fees are $80 for adult cats and $90 for kittens.

Can't adopt?  Share this information with friends, donate to help defray the cost of this program, honor or remember a friend by sponsoring a month in our Cat Community Center.

* The program is offered for a limited time and may be discontinued at any time.  The current program became effective 1/20/08.
