 Angel Kramb

Kim Kramb adopted Lena (now named Angel) in September of 2004.  Kim tells us that Angel's favorite plaything is the ring from a milk or juice bottle.  "Angel will play with us for hours with these rings and if she loses them she will find one of my daughter's plastic bracelets to play with.  Her favorite game is fetch and Angel will bring it back every time and insist on it being tossed again and again.  ...At night Angel loves to sleep in bed with us, sometimes even under the covers.   Angel has been a great addition and we love her dearly."

Zak Fisher
Jon and Karla Fisher adopted a 7 month old puppy named Philly, whom they renamed Zak, on September 10, 2005.  They report that Zak will be living with another dog a 7 1/2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback named Beau in Dearborn.  Jon and Karla say that  Zak loves to play with gift wrap string.

Dusty Fitzgerald

Karen Fitzgerald adopted 4 year old Mystical on December 18, 2005, but soon changed his name to Dusty.  She says he's a handsome little guy and that his fur reminds her of flannel so they call him "the cat in the gray flannel suit."  Karen reflects, "From the moment we took him out of his cage at the shelter we knew Dusty was the cat for us.  He was content to sit in my lap and be held and petted.  He was very calm and easygoing despite all the noise:  barking and  meowing in the shelter."  Karen writes,   "Dusty is the best companion a person could have.  He knows his name, comes when called and is always happy to sit in anyone's lap.  He's friendly to anyone who comes in the house."  Karen appeals to other pet lovers, "I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a pet, should check out the adult animals at the shelter."  Karen tells us that this photo depicts one of Dusty's favorite pastimes: watching 'his' pet tropical fish.

Lucy Menna

Errin Menna adopted Nutter Butter (now named Lucy) on November 12, 2005.  Errin says, "She is such a great cat!  We [] want to thank everyone at the Dearborn Animal Shelter for a smooth and happy adoption process!"  Errin says that Lucy likes to play with milk bottle rings, fuzzy mice, ribbons; basically anything she can bat around.

King [Zachery] Talbott

Two year old Zachery was adopted on December 2, 2005 by Dale Talbott.  Dale writes, "I love him.  He loves me too.  He's so playful.  He loves to try to catch the cursor on the computer.  He's such a great companion to me.  I just bought him a tree house which he loves. It's a good scratcher.  Thank you very much for getting us together."

Update: Dale sent in more photos of Zachery whom he now calls King and writes, "Thanks to the nice Lady that introduced me to him, I have the best Cat ever.  He even fetches.  Thank you Dearborn Animal Shelter."

Rusty Mackiewicz

Ralph and Christie Mackiewicz adopted a 6 year old Chow-mix named Wendy (now named Rusty) at the Adopt-a-pet weekend at the Detroit Zoo on September 24, 2005.  They write, "We would like to thank you so very much for providing us with our perfect pet! She is beautiful and such a sweetheart!...Rusty is affectionate and loves attention and belly-rubs!  We are thrilled and more than willing to return the love to her!  She deserves it, and is such a cutie!"

Pettie Couturier

On November 16, 2005 Sarah Couturier and William adopted a four month old kitty named Mozart (now named Pettie) and took her to their home in Melvindale to live.  Sarah writes that this picture shows Pettie's favorite toy.  She writes," He also enjoys chasing and playing with our other cat, Jetta."

Blue Bachman

Michael Bachman adopted an adult yellow Labrador Retriever named Bradley in March of 2003.  He brought him home to Waterford and changed his name to Blue. Michael says Blue's favorite pastime is riding in his Jeep and swimming. Michael writes about blue, "He is a very happy and loving pet.  He loves hanging out at the local ski shop.  He is the unofficial mascot of the store."

Zenith Stewart

Zenith was adopted by Amy Stewart on August 17, 2005. Amy wrote to tell us, "Zenith is truly a blessing from the Lord, no question about it.  He is very affectionate, playful and loving.  He likes to be around us, definitely a people cat.  He's a wonderful playmate for our 4 month old puppy.  They keep each other occupied.  Zenith is also pretty laid-back.  He's the kind of cat children could play with and dress-up and he wouldn't hurt them.  He's also very vocal, if he wants something.  Whether it be food, attention or let outside (on a rope) he's sure to let us know.  One last thing, he loves attention, like getting on the bed with us and being petted and scratched; he purrs and purrs.  We are so thankful to the Lord and the Dearborn Animal Shelter & PetsMart for Zenith each and everyday."  In a post script, Amy mentions that Zenith has 'absolutely gorgeous fur' that is silky, soft and super shiny.

Sherwin Blaim/Kohut

Michelle Blaim & John Kohut  adopted Sherwin the kitten on July 16, 2005.  They live in Milford.  They tell us that Sherwin loves his cute little neon mouse to play with and loves sleeping all day Saturday. Michelle and John write," Sherwin was spray painted red and very skinny when he got to the shelter.  He has been battling an upper respiratory infection, but hasn't let it slow him down.  He's very active and loves to play.  He is living like a king now and has taken to his new environment well.  He is a lover and loves belly rubs and kisses."  Michelle and John tell us that Sherwin has learned a lot of tricks such as fetching toys, rolling over and dancing.  They say,  "He also knows how to give bye-bye kisses when we leave. Sherwin is very happy now.  He never lets an opportunity go by to get into mischief. He's a joy to watch and love.
