Tobie W.

Jen adopted Sherman on January 14, 2006 and brought him to her home in Dearborn Heights to begin his new life with a new name---Tobie.  Jen writes, "Tobie loves to chew up every dog toy in the house.  He also likes to terrorize his big sister, Mollie (5 yr. old sheltie).  I am so happy that I got Tobie.  He has made my other dog become more active and outgoing.  He loves to cuddle and play.  He has really brought more life into my house."

Update:  Jennifer wrote us an email on September 13, 2006.

"I just want to say "Thank You"  ...he [Tobie] is the best male dog I have ever had.  He was a bit shy the 1st few days at my house, but has since become the focal point of my small family consisting of me and two additional shelties."

Holly Vadasz

Holly, who used to be called Helen at the shelter, lives up north now, since Laura Vadasz adopted her early this year [2006].  Holly reports, "Traveling between the city and up north, I found I did not like being a city dog -- the open air country is for me.  With open area, my favorite activity is to run, run and run some more chasing birds, squirrels and digging voles.  When my high energy runs out, it's the couch for me.  I play with my new friends: Tyke, Jack and Suzy and am very happy."

Molly Bentley

Kim Bentley writes to tell us; "I adopted Molly from Pets Supplies Plus back in September 2005 and she's been a delight.  She loves to sleep almost anywhere -snapped this picture of her in the bathroom sink.  I got a great cat!  Thanks for all you do."

Harvey
At the shelter, Harvey was known as Harvard before Cheryl and Jon took him to Dearborn to share their home with him, another dog, a bird and a turtle.  Cheryl and Jon report, "Harvey sure is a puppy compared to older brother Klark, but along with his hyper play side comes a sweetheart side that loves to snuggle.  He's also very gentle and even gives kisses to the household bird, Sully.  He's a wonderful addition to our family."

Montana

Hopefully a picture will be posted soon

17 week old puppy Paul was adopted on April 8, 2006.  He will begin his new life in Westland with a new name, Montana.  His family writes to tell us that he loves playing fetch.

Sweep Sherry

On July 3, 2006 Don and Angela Sherry brought Sax, a little black kitten, to their home in Westland where they changed his name to Sweep and  introduced him to their other feline resident, Sooty.  Don and Angela report that Sweep's favorite toy is a red plastic mouse.  "Sweep loves to play fetch for hours on end!  And Sweep also makes extensive, exhaustive use of the cat gymnasium which serves as our apartment. "Don writes, "Sweep has settled in nicely to his new home and made quick friends with his big sister Sooty, our first adoptee from the DAS (two years back).  He is quite affectionate and simply adorable, always looking for a cuddle and purring at the slightest touch. J  As for activity, Sweep gives further proof of Einstein's theory: A little bit of matter provides a massive amount of energy!  Angela and I tire just watching the little fellow, and no doubt Sooty too!"  "For a second time, my wife and I found ourselves indebted to the FFDAS for this wonderful new addition to our family.  And Sooty is very thankful for her little brother, and is proving herself quite the teacher, tutoring Sweep on all the ins and outs (e.g., the really good hiding places) and showing him the ropes."

Loki Gorden

Teddy was a happy little tabby kitten when in July of 2005 Meredith Gorden took her home to Melvindale and changed her name to Loki.  Meredith tells us that Loki loves to play fetch with her favorite toy sponge golf balls.  Meredith writes, "Loki is adorable and sweet, she is the softest kitty I've ever known.  She is a little vixen though!  She likes to act like she's tough sometimes too!  Everyone that meets her falls in love with her. She's extremely playful!  I couldn't have adopted a better kitty!"

Eleanor Roosevelt and Harriet Tubman Cushman

Eleanor Roosevelt, a tabby and white domestic shorthair, and Harriet Tubman, an all black domestic shorthair, are two lucky kittens who on August 8, 2006 went home to Dearborn to live with Betsy Cushman.  At the shelter,  they were known as Felisha and Kensington.  Betsy writes, "Adopting 2 cats at once is fun for the cats and makes their adjustment easier...but a little extra work at 1st.  They are great company for each other."  Betsy tells us that Harriet's favorite pastime is playing with the "mouse" hanging on the door to her office and that Eleanor is so happy sitting on her lap.  She also notes that the two young ladies really enjoy playing together.

Biscuit Freiberg

In August 2006, Christal Freiberg took Biscuit, a lucky 6 year old canine companion,  into her heart and into her home in Westland.  Christal describes Biscuit as  "... a cutie, he has adjusted well to our household and we are very glad we adopted him.  The first night we had him he jumped right up on the bed, cuddled up and went right to sleep.  He was so comfy, we knew he was a keeper."  Christal says that Biscuit's favorite toys are kongs or anything he can chew on and that he loves to cuddle and run around acting cute.  She writes, "He also wiggles his ears for treats-that's how we know he wants one."

Update November 30, 2006:

"...[Here] are pictures of Biscuit (he is the smallest white dog) and his brothers Curly and Luie.  He is still very happy and loves playing with his toys and getting treats!"

Ice Langlois

Hopefully Julie will send us a photo soon

Julie Langlois from Dearborn adopted Ice, a 15 month kitty on September 1, 2006 from the shelter.  Julie tells us that Ice's favorite toy is a mouse on an elastic string.  She says, "He likes to sleep near the dog...[German Shepherd]."  She writes that he likes to retrieve the dirty laundry from the basement and bring it into the living room.
