 Bailey and Marley Koller

In November of 2OO8, Barbara Koller of Canton adopted 2 kittens: 14 week old Amos, soon to be named Bailey, and 8 week old Sherbert, whom would be called Marley.  Barbara tells us that Bailey really enjoys his cat dancer and 'da bird'.  Marley enjoys 'da bird' also but has fun with her inch worm as well.

Bailey was adopted when he was 14 weeks old with Marley a female kitten who was 8 weeks old.  They get along very well, playing and sleeping together.  They were gradually introduced to our older cats Serena who is 6 and Baxter who is 7 years old.  They are great friends now and enjoy chasing one another around the house.  Bailey is a beautiful all grey boy who is very loveable.  He loves his toys, playing, eating and sleeping.  He has been a great addition to our home.

Marley was 8 weeks old when we brought her and another kitten home.  She is a beautiful calico girl always on the move.  She is curious about everything, loves to climb the cat tower, especially with her brother Bailey.  Marley is now 7 months old, she loves her toys, especially her "inch worm", a 6 inch red toy, she carries it everywhere.  She gets along well with Serena and Baxter our 6 and 7 year old cats.  Marley is a great addition to our family.

 Indigo Vollmar

this space is waiting for
a photo of Indigo

Indigo was 5 months old when Niki Vollmar sent in her Happy Tail.  The pup was called Melrose when Niki adopted her and took her home to Grand Rapids in January of 2009.  Niki writes: "Indigo loves playing with her "fur sister" Hope and chewing on all her toys!"

Indigo loves her new home and family.  She is such a mellow dog, yet very food/treat driven, so training has been a breeze!  She did great at puppy training class, [she] is very friendly with everyone she meets!

Cinna S. [update]

Catherine of Dearborn sent us photos of Cinna and wrote, "We just love Cinna!  What I really wanted to do was send you some pictures of Cinna to put on the website.  My mom didn't have any when you spoke to her, but we have taken some since and I have attached the cutest ones to this email.  Just so you know, she crawled inside the coat herself!"

Chrissy Haskin

Hopefully Jay will send us a photo
of Chrissy for this space

Jay Haskin of Lincoln Park says that Chrissy really likes to play tug of war and likes to cuddle.  Chrissy was 6 month old puppy when Jay adopted her into his family.  "She is a great dog.  [She] has fit in the family like she was born here.  [She] loves to run in the yard and meet new people."

Ellie Fleischer

Michael Fleischer submitted this Happy Tail about Ellie:

[She] loves to chew, lick, play chase in the yard, tug o' war, go jogging with me, [and] terrorize the cats.

Ellie was 12 weeks old when Michael submitted her Happy Tail.  He adopted her on March 25, 2009 to begin her new life with a new family in West Bloomfield.

JAX Wiley-Bunch

Peoria, a Collie Shepherd mix pup was about 2 months old when Lexie Wiley and Corey Bunch adopted the lively pup and took her to their home in Taylor to begin a new life  with a new name---Jax.  They say that Jax loves to play in the pool or with the hose.

Jax is a fun loving, very sweet puppy.  He either loves to cuddle or chew on you.  He also loves playing with our other Shepherd mix.  They run the yard together, and are two of a kind.  We adopted Jax in the name of our little princess "Lena" who is very dearly missed.  He brings back excitement to our lives and the people we love.  We are truly blessed to have found our new addition.

Bounce P.

Megan in Toledo, Ohio submitted a story to www.petfinder.com who were gracious and forwarded this wonderfully rewarding story to us.

Bounce was a three month old stray when she was picked up and brought to the shelter.  Two months later, I found her on Petfinder with a big smile on her face and wanted to meet her.  She was so excited about visitors that it was hard to even walk her and she overwhelmed a lot of people with her energy and size, but she was so sweet that I brought her home.  She was so happy to have a place to call home.  She is now 5 years old and is the best friend I have ever had.  With lots of training and lots of treats, she is a very well behaved dog with a big personality.  She is a lovable dog who puts a smile on anyone's face who meets her.  She loves to go for walks, play, sniff everything and get her tummy rubbed.  Thanks to the Dearborn Animal Shelter for working so hard for SE Michigan dogs and cats!

Hey Buddy Johnson

Bob and Judy Johnson submitted a Happy Tail about 5 year old Hey Buddy in April 2009.  Hey Buddy's name was Aladin when Bon and Judy adopted him and took him to their home in Taylor.  Judy relates that Hey Buddy loves to chase the laser light and 'patrols' the patio door wall (other kitties and raccoons come to stare at him).

He's a wonderful pal for my husband - he seems to be a 'man's cat' which is just what we were looking for.  He also loves catnip & gets "goofy" and makes us laugh.  We love him a lot and will do our best to keep him healthy for many years to come.

Fay Fabrey

Barbara Fabrey of Detroit adopted 2 year old Fay in May of 2009.  She tells us that Fay's favorite thing is a long string with a huge knot tied at the end.

Fay is wonderful.  She obeys if I tell her "No". [She] sleeps with me at night.  During the day [she] sleeps on the bedroom floor on a white fur throw in front of the cold air vent.  [She] has gained 3 or 4 lbs.

Buddy Gregory

Gabe was adopted by Jim and Annette Gregory on May 6, 2009.  They changed his name to Buddy and took him home to live with them in Dearborn Heights.  They say that Buddy..."Loves to go on walks and have his belly rubbed".    Buddy has asked them to send along this note:

I was living on the streets, terribly hurt by other dogs, when the Dearborn Police brought me to the shelter.  Once my stitches were almost healed, I was adopted by Jim and Annette, their five kids and kitty "Binks".  They were a bit nervous around me at first. I weigh 100 pounds, and have numerous scars, but they could tell by looking in my eyes that I was a lover, not a fighter. I was just a gentle giant, down on his luck, needing a good home.  I am so happy here.  I love my twice-daily walks, the good food, and the belly rubs. I am very eager to show them how quickly I learn new tricks!  I learned how to roll over in one day (Imagine that!  A huge dog like me rolling over like a puppy!  But the treats I get for doing it are delicious!)  It is very different living in a house than on the streets.  I can't go to the bathroom wherever I want (that took a couple of days to figure out!).  I prefer to stay inside the house (I've had enough of outdoor living) but I sure love my walks.  I am learning to walk/run alongside the bike my Jamie rides.  I haven't pulled him off the bike once!  I am so happy that the shelter took me in, and gave me a chance to show what a wonderful, loving companion I can be.
